Full-Time · PermanentShajeela's Kitchen is a growing Indian restaurant in Bedford, Nova Scotia, known for authentic Kerala and Indian cuisine. We are looking for a skilled and dependable cook to join our kitchen team and help deliver high-quality meals consistently.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes
- Plan menus and estimate food requirements
- Determine portion sizes and control food costs
- Supervise kitchen staff and train team members
- Maintain inventory and order supplies
- Ensure cleanliness of kitchen and food service areas
- Inspect kitchen operations and maintain food safety standards
- Prepare meals for customers with allergies or dietary needs
- Support catering, buffets, and banquet preparation
- Manage overall kitchen operations when required
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience in a professional kitchen
- College/CEGEP diploma or culinary training (1–2 years preferred)
- Strong knowledge of South or East Indian cuisine
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and time management
- Reliable, organized, and proactive attitude
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
