Chef Shajeela Subair

Shajeela Subair began her culinary journey in 2014, and over the years she has accumulated a wealth of experience at renowned establishments such as Dhaba, JCs Grillhouse, and Thanima Kitchen.

Shajeela's culinary expertise knows no bounds, encompassing the intricacies of both South Indian and North Indian cuisines. Her mastery extends beyond traditional Indian fare to encompass a diverse range of culinary domains, including the art of crafting delectable pickle products and the finesse of Chinese cuisine.

Shajeela has proven hands-on experience in catering for large gatherings, with a proven track record of successfully serving meals to as many as 5000 people. Her specialization in traditional Indian-style food and snacks showcases her dedication to preserving and elevating the authenticity of these culinary traditions.

With her unwavering commitment to teamwork, and her wealth of experience and dedication to culinary excellence, Shajeela Subair is poised to be a driving force behind the success of our restaurant.

Chef Mohammed Subair

Subair brings extensive culinary expertise to Shajeela’s Kitchen. With a career spanning nearly a decade, he has established himself as a seasoned professional in the culinary world. Subair embarked on his culinary journey in 2013 in India, where he honed his culinary skills and developed a deep understanding of Indian cuisine.

Upon relocating to Halifax, Subair joined Dhaba restaurant as an executive sous chef, where he dedicated seven years to refining his craft and elevating the dining experience for patrons. In 2020, he took on the role of sous chef at the Nova Scotia Health Authority, a role that entails the responsibility of serving 900 in-patient meals daily. His experience in delivering high-quality meals at scale demonstrates his operational prowess and dedication to culinary excellence.

Subair's culinary specialties encompass a wide array of dishes, with a special flair for crafting exceptional Biriyani and a diverse range of curry items. His passion for cooking is palpable in every dish he creates, infusing each bite with flavor, authenticity, and innovation.
